MailDex works across many email client formats, including Outlook PST, OST, OLM and MSG files, Thunderbird's EML, MBOX, as well as MHT, EMLX files. MailDex has an advanced proprietary email rendering engine able to accurately display complex Microsoft Outlook messages, including Rich Text emails with embedded graphics and special formatting such as shapes, SmartArt and embedded charts. Hundreds of non-standard email formatting exceptions have been identified and individually included, enabling MailDex to render emails that other products can't. This means you get highly accurate images when converting email to image documents such as PDF.

Easy To Use and Unlimited

MailDex is project driven to help you organize your work flow. For example, a law firm performing discovery on multiple cases can create multiple MailDex projects. Each project is separate from all other projects, and can be deleted at any time without affecting other projects. This simplifies discovery and prevents content mingling. With MailDex, you can create an unlimited number of projects. Each project can index an unlimited number of emails. Search across one project, or search across all of your projects. Start using MailDex in two simple steps: 1), create a project, 2) add emails to it. After a brief indexing period, you begin searching your project indices. MailDex natively supports indexing of many different types of email content. You can add Outlook .pst, .ost or .mbox email files, or select a Windows folder with .msg or .eml files or a mix of email content. MailDex immediately begins indexing email content after it is added to a project. The status column keeps you informed of the indexing progress. MailDex is optimized for fast indexing, exceeding 1,200 emails per minute on a modestly resourced computer. Indexing includes most file attachments, and speed is dependant on certain factors such as file attachment size. When indexing is complete, your searches of email content will return lightening fast results.

Controlled Unclassified Information:

If you work with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), MailDex can be set to respect CUI tagged emails during export operations. Activate this feature by selecting the "Exclude CUI" option on the export tab.

PST to PDF Conversion

MailDex is designed around the complexities of converting email into PDF documents. Use it to bulk emails from Microsoft Outlook PST files to PDF documents. MailDex also exports msg, eml, ost, mbox and mht files to PDF. A range of pdf export options lets you decide how to handle email file attachments: extract them to a disk, convert them into the pdf image, or embed them as individual files. Support is included for ISO 19005-1, an important email archiving standard also known as PDF/A. With MailDex's Email-to-PDF export capabilities, you can:

• Convert email to PDF with email file attachments embedded within the PDF file
• Convert to PDF with many common file attachments types converted into the PDF image
• Bulk extract email file attachments to a location on your hard drive
• Convert multiple emails into a single PDF file
• Add selected emails to an existing PDF file
• Archive emails using PDF/A - ISO 19005-1 standard
• Export emails to XML documents.
• Export email to other formats including Word Docx, ODT, Mbox, GIF, TIF, BMP, JPG, CSV (Excel), HTML, MSG, XML, and MHT
• Select among different page formats such as A1, A3, etc., or define your own.
• Apply a custom naming scheme to exported emails during processing. MailDex lets you choose to including email meta data or numerical increments to file names.

With MailDex you can visualize connections and patterns in email meta data. There are many different charts that will provide unique insight into the email data you are working with.

Opens All Outlook Pst, Ost, Olm Files

Index and search .pst files created by any version of Microsoft Outlook, including newer Unicode and older ANSI formatted .pst files. System administrators are able to customize the user interface, removing features their users don't need. An .msi file supports silent deployment and silent registration.

Searching .PST, .OLM, .OST and MBOX Files

MailDex is an inexpensive option for first pass legal discovery involving email. If you are dealing with tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions of email messages, MailDex will help you quickly show you relevant email messages. Use MailDex to search text within emails, file attachment names, and text within most file attachments. Find all emails sent from or sent to specific email addresses. Search for emails originating within a date range. View hidden email metadata. Utilize MailDex's "quick search" to quickly sift through emails. Use "Advanced Search" when you need to specify multiple criteria. Search a specific range of dates, sender, or the recipient's email address. After performing an email search with MailDex, you may have a large set of emails needing closer analysis. To support this, MailDex includes message filtering. Very complex filters may be built and then re-used on different search results. You can apply different filters to the same email set.

Index Email File Attachments

Beginning with MailDex 2021, you can now choose to index email file attachments. MailDex supports many common file types. Indexing file attachments is optional, and can greatly improve your ability to locate important email content. However, if email file attachments are not important to your project, you can ignore them for an even faster result. Indexing email file attachments begins with creating a new MailDex project, and selecting "Index Attachments."

Setting up an Email Indexing Project

Create a project by clicking on the "New" button. Give your project a name, and then select the source files you want to add to it. With MailDex you can create as many Email Indexing Projects as you need. Each project as its own separate database. You can search across multiple MailDex projects if you choose. When your work is done and you are finished with a project, you can delete it without impacting any other project. Deleting a MailDex project never impacts the source emails, only the index. MailDex never modifies or alters your source email files.
