Overview

Digital Guardian Secure Collaboration is a data-centric security solution that attaches encryption, policy, and access controls directly to files, so that sensitive information remains protected regardless of where it goes. Built on a scalable cloud platform, it empowers organizations to enable collaboration without giving up control, giving IT teams real-time ability to track, revoke, or adjust permissions on files even after they’ve been shared.

Features and Capabilities

  • **Encryption & Persistent Protection: **Applies AES-256 encryption to any file type. Security policies (e.g., view, edit, print) remain enforced even after the file leaves the environment.
  • **Zero-Trust File Security: **Grants access only to authorized users/devices. Tracks usage, enforces dynamic access, and can instantly revoke file access.
  • **Seamless Adoption: **For external users, no installation is needed — files can be opened in a browser via HTML wrapper. For internal users, a client integrates into their native apps. Authentication supports AD, SSO, SAML, Google.
  • **File Activity Tracking & Auditing: **Provides a web-based dashboard to audit file access: who accessed, when, where, device type, and actions (copy, print, etc.). Supports syslog and CSV exports.
  • **Flexible Deployment: **Offers pure SaaS, hybrid, or on-premises deployment (e.g., in AWS VPC or on-prem key management).
  • **Integration with Cloud & Collaboration Systems: **Works with Box, Dropbox, SharePoint, OneDrive, SMB shares, and email. Automatically secures files uploaded into secured folders.
  • **Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation: **Supports control for files containing PII, PCI, PHI. Maintains a full audit trail of successful and failed access attempts. Includes SDK / REST APIs so you can embed protection, tracking, and revocation into third-party or custom apps.
  • **Data Classification Integration: **Integrates with Fortra’s Data Classification Suite: once a file is classified (e.g., “Restricted”), Secure Collaboration applies encryption and policy automatically.
  • **Security Architecture: **Three main components: Cloud Platform (policy and key management, no content storage), End-User Clients (desktop, mobile), and a Dashboard for policy and audit control. Encryption keys are stored separately per customer; all communication is encrypted; policy badge overlays in the UI show access levels.
