Product details

NovAtel’s SPAN® Land Vehicle firmware is a GNSS receiver enhancement designed to maintain accurate navigation performance in land-based applications, even during extended GNSS outages. By combining NovAtel’s intelligent vehicle dynamics modeling with patented Antenna Phase Windup technology, SPAN Land Vehicle provides continuous position, velocity, and attitude data. It is compatible with all SPAN-supported IMUs and is optimized for low-dynamic environments such as automotive and agricultural platforms.

Features

  • Continuous Navigation Output: Maintains position, velocity, and attitude data during complete GNSS signal loss.
  • Intelligent Vehicle Dynamics Modeling: Uses motion constraints and vehicle behavior to improve navigation accuracy.
  • Antenna Phase Windup Technology: Corrects for rotational effects on GNSS signals caused by antenna movement.
  • IMU Compatibility: Available for all SPAN-supported inertial measurement units (IMUs).
  • Performance Across IMU Grades:
    • Entry-Level (S1): 0.28% EDT, 1.76° azimuth error
    • Mid-Range (S2): 0.10% EDT, 0.18° azimuth error
    • High Performance (S3): 0.08% EDT, 0.12° azimuth error
  • DMI Integration: Enhanced accuracy when used with Distance Measurement Instruments (DMI).

Benefits

  • Reliable Navigation in GNSS-Denied Environments: Ensures uninterrupted navigation during tunnels, urban canyons, or signal jamming.
  • Improved Accuracy: Reduces position and orientation errors using advanced modeling and sensor fusion.
  • Scalable Performance: Offers flexible accuracy levels based on IMU grade and DMI integration.
  • Optimized for Land Vehicles: Tailored for automotive, agricultural, and other ground-based platforms.
  • Reduced Operational Risk: Maintains situational awareness and control during GNSS outages.
