Product details
NovAtel’s SPAN Heave is a GNSS receiver firmware option designed to correct for wave-induced vertical motion (heave) in marine mapping applications. The rise and fall of a vessel can distort sonar data, leading to inaccurate depth measurements. SPAN Heave compensates for this motion using real-time and post-processed inertial navigation data, resulting in clearer and more reliable seabed imaging. It is available on select SPAN receivers and integrates seamlessly with NovAtel’s Inertial Explorer software for post-processing.
Features
- Real-Time Heave Measurements: Provides instantaneous and delayed measurements of wave motion under challenging marine conditions.
- Post-Processed Heave Filtering: Uses Inertial Explorer software to process data forward and backward for maximum accuracy.
- Configurable Heave Filter Window: Allows users to adjust filtering parameters based on vessel dynamics and environmental conditions.
- Six Degrees-of-Freedom Navigation: Measures position, velocity, and attitude with full 3D orientation.
- Asynchronous and Synchronous Logs: Heave data available at 10 Hz asynchronously, synchronously up to IMU data rate, and delayed logs up to 10 Hz.
- SPAN INS Functionality: Combines GNSS and inertial navigation for robust and stable positioning.
Benefits
- Improved Depth Accuracy: Eliminates wave motion from sonar data, producing coherent and precise ocean floor maps.
- Flexible Integration: Offers both real-time and post-processed solutions to suit different operational needs.
- Enhanced Marine Performance: Maintains accuracy in difficult sea conditions and dynamic vessel environments.
- Reliable Navigation: Combines GNSS precision with IMU stability for consistent 3D navigation.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduces the need for manual correction and re-surveying, saving time and resources.
