MIM Symphony HDR Fusion is a specialized software solution designed to increase confidence and precision during high dose-rate (HDR) prostate brachytherapy procedures by leveraging MR fusion technology. It addresses critical challenges faced when using MR in HDR procedures, such as orientation differences between ultrasound and MR axial slices, prostate deformation caused by ultrasound probe pressure, and image degradation or edema from needle placement, which can make MR-to-ultrasound registration difficult. The software provides seamless MR-to-live-ultrasound registration, offering clear visibility of the prostate, lesions, and organs at risk (OARs) throughout the procedure. It offers solutions across the procedural workflow: pre-operatively, it uses ReSlicer® to accurately reorient initial MR images to account for ultrasound orientation differences. Intra-operatively, Predictive Fusion® enables the overlay of MR-delineated contours, lesions, and OARs onto live ultrasound, effectively removing deformation errors. Post-insertion, the system allows for efficient auto-digitization of needles on ultrasound or CT, facilitating needle review and free length checks. Additionally, Registration Chaining™ assists in performing MR-to-planning-image fusions after needles are placed, utilizing mutual information for precise registration.
