EFS SSDEditShare

High-performance, NVMe-optimized shared storage for collaborative 4K/8K finishing, VFX and DI workflows.

Product details

Overview

EditShare EFS SSD is a high-throughput, media-optimized shared storage node engineered for bandwidth-heavy post-production tasks such as uncompressed DPX, DNxHR 444 and ProRes 4444. Built on the EditShare File System (EFS), it is designed to deliver consistent multi-user playback, low latency and predictable performance for finishing, DI and VFX teams, and it scales from small single-node deployments to multi-petabyte clusters within a single namespace.

Features and Capabilities

  • Performance & Media Formats: EFS SSD is engineered for ultra-high bandwidth and low latency to support uncompressed and high-bitrate codecs (DPX, DNxHR 444, ProRes 4444) for frame-accurate editing and multi-layer playback.
  • NVMe & Next-Gen Nodes: NVMe-based node options (including Ultimate EFS NVMe and NVMe Lite) provide extreme I/O for finishing and VFX workloads; hybrid options combine NVMe speed with HDD density for mixed workflows.
  • Scalability & Single Namespace: The platform scales linearly by adding nodes, allowing clusters to grow to multi-petabyte capacity while preserving a single global namespace and consistent performance.
  • Reliability & Data Protection: Supports enterprise protection schemes (XOR, COPY) and resilient node designs so workstations continue to access assets during node faults or congestion.
  • Workflow Integration: Seamless integration with the wider EditShare ecosystem (FLOW media management, FLEX cloud services and review/collaboration tools), enabling automated transfers, proxy workflows and centralized metadata/search.
  • Collaboration & Remote Work: Designed for collaborative editing across distributed teams — on-prem, hybrid and cloud deployments are supported so remote editors can collaborate with frame accuracy and project/bin locking.
  • Node Variants for Different Needs: Product variants (NVMe flagship, NVMe Lite for smaller teams, Hybrid for mixed use, portable EFS Field for on-set/remote capture) let shops right-size performance and capacity to budgets and workflows.
  • Operational & Management Tools: Admin features include monitoring, microservices architecture, APIs for automation, and integrations that simplify ingest, transcoding, and archive policies.
