Overview
EFS NVMe is a high-performance shared media storage solution built on EditShare’s media-aware file system and NVMe SSD architecture. It is designed for finishing, VFX and DI workflows that require extreme bandwidth and low latency, enabling multiple editors, graders and render nodes to access and work on high-resolution content simultaneously. EFS NVMe delivers significantly higher aggregate throughput than traditional SSD nodes, supports collaborative editing across a single namespace, and integrates with EditShare workflow tools to streamline ingest, metadata, review and archive operations.
Features and Capabilities
- **Performance & Architecture: **NVMe SSD-based nodes deliver massively higher I/O and aggregate bandwidth (multiple GB/s), enabling real-time playback and multi-layer editing of uncompressed 4K–8K media. EFS NVMe claims roughly 3× the bandwidth/throughput compared to traditional SSD node designs.
- **Scalability & Namespace: **Scale-out design keeps a single global namespace across nodes and tiers so projects and assets remain consistent as capacity and performance are expanded. Nodes can be added to grow both capacity and aggregate throughput without disturbing workflows.
- **Collaboration & Workflow Integration: **Native EFS clients, SwiftRead and EditShare workflow tools enable multiple users to edit, render and grade concurrently with low contention. Integration with EditShare FLOW, MediaSilo and FLEX features streamlines ingest, metadata, review and remote collaboration.
- **Reliability & Data Protection: **Built on the EditShare File System with media-aware protection schemes; supports enterprise resiliency features appropriate to production and post environments to minimize downtime and data loss risk. Redundant hardware, hot-swap components and proven cluster protections are part of the platform story.
- **Use Cases & Workloads: **Tailored for VFX, high-end finishing, DI and studios working with high-bitrate or file-per-frame formats (DPX, high-bitrate ProRes, uncompressed timelines). Also offered in variants (NVMe Lite, Hybrid) to match cost/capacity needs across boutique to enterprise deployments.
- **Efficiency & Power: **NVMe architecture increases throughput per watt and per rack unit versus older HDD or SATA/SSD-only nodes — enabling denser performance for the same footprint.
- **Portable & Field Options: **The product family includes more portable, rugged NVMe-based field systems for on-set editing and secure live ingest, enabling consistent workflows from location to post.
