Overview
EFS 200 is a scale-out shared media storage node from EditShare designed to bring enterprise-class EFS performance, collaboration and data protection to smaller post, broadcast and creative teams. It presents a single namespace across nodes so editors, producers and media managers can collaborate in real time with project/bin locking, fast playback of high-res codecs and integrated media management (FLOW). The system scales in capacity and throughput by adding additional nodes, supports Windows/Mac/Linux clients via native drivers, and includes EditShare’s data-protection and archive tooling for reliable backup and restore.
Features and Capabilities
- Scale and Growth: EFS 200 is sold as a building-block node that can be expanded from a single node to multi-node clusters, allowing linear increases in capacity and bandwidth as needs grow.
- Distributed File System: EFS filesystem provides a single namespace across nodes so administrators do not need to manage multiple volumes or split workspaces.
- Multi-OS Client Support: Native EFS client drivers for Windows, macOS and Linux deliver low latency, multi-threaded performance for editorial apps.
- Real-time Collaboration: Project and bin locking enable multiple editors to work simultaneously in common NLEs without conflict.
- High Stream Counts & Playback: Engineered for smooth real-time playback, supporting high stream counts for HD, UHD and many high-bitrate codecs.
- Hardware Redundancy & Resilience: Multiple levels of hardware redundancy and cluster options protect against drive/node failures and ensure high availability.
- SwiftSync & Acceleration: EFS SwiftSync (EditShare acceleration) moves media fast between EditShare locations and nodes to accelerate transfers and remote collaboration.
- Integrated Media Management: FLOW integration (media asset management) is bundled/available to index, transcode, search, proxy and manage media across the storage system.
- Archive & DR Tools: ARK appliance and archive workflows included/available to create LTO or object-storage archives for long-term retention and disaster recovery.
- Flexible Configurations: Available in different node types (nearline, NVMe, field/portable variants) to suit high-density archive, ultra-high throughput, or on-set workflows.
- High-Performance Options: NVMe and Ultimate node options provide extreme throughput (suitable for VFX, 4K/8K finishing and DI workflows).
- Enterprise Features: Multi-site replication, snapshotting, user/permission controls, and monitoring for production environments.
- Low Administrative Overhead: Single namespace and centralized management reduce day-to-day admin effort versus many traditional SAN/NAS setups.
