Overview

Fonoa’s Data Sharing product enables platform operators to manage and automate their tax-reporting and data submission obligations across multiple jurisdictions. It handles the entire pipeline—from receiving seller data, validating it, transforming it into the required reporting schema, generating seller notifications, to submitting to tax authorities—without requiring platforms to build custom pipelines for each country. Fonoa maintains that it does not retain user data and gives full control to the client. The solution is designed to address obligations such as EU DAC7 and similar rules in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Features and Capabilities

  • **Data Processing & Validation: **Fonoa ingests raw seller or transaction data, validates key fields (e.g. tax IDs, addresses), identifies missing or inconsistent entries, and ensures compliance with jurisdictional schema requirements.
  • **Jurisdiction-Aware Reporting: **The system supports rule sets for multiple countries and digital platform reporting regimes (e.g. DAC7 in the EU, digital platform reporting in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc.). It adapts to local requirements, formats (e.g. XML), and reporting deadlines.
  • **Seller Notifications Automation: **After processing, the product can generate and send seller notifications (summaries, post-filing updates) to keep sellers informed of their reporting obligations and outcomes.
  • **Full Automation & Scale: **The product is built to handle large volumes of sellers and can scale globally. It’s built for automation so that tax teams can reduce manual effort and error risk.
  • **Data Privacy & Control: **Fonoa claims that the client retains full control over data; Fonoa does not store or access the data beyond the processing required, minimizing data risk.
  • **Regulatory Adaptation & Updates: **As tax rules evolve, Fonoa updates its rule sets to remain compliant with new mandates and automatically applies changes to supported jurisdictions.
  • **Scalable API-First Integration: **The product is designed to integrate via APIs into existing systems, requiring minimal custom engineering for each jurisdiction.
  • **Support for New Jurisdictions (e.g. Iceland): **Fonoa has extended its coverage to include newer digital platform reporting regimes, such as Iceland’s, integrating them into its pipeline without requiring client reengineering.
