Rewind Backups for Microsoft Entra ID is a dedicated backup and recovery solution designed to protect critical identity and access management data within Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) environments. The service performs automated daily backups of essential Entra ID objects, including users, groups, applications, roles, policies, devices, domains, and more. It maintains a 365-day backup history and offers export functionality for backed-up data, allowing organizations to review or manually restore data as needed. The solution is built to minimize the risk of data loss from accidental deletion, malicious attacks, or misconfiguration, and supports compliance needs with features like audit logs, international data residency, and single sign-on (SSO). Security certifications such as SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA are included. Currently, self-serve restore is not available, but export and manual restore options are provided, with further restore capabilities under development as part of the Early Access program.
